ABOUT MKS

ORIGIN
The MyoKinesthetic  System (MKS) was developed 15 years ago by Dr. Michael Uriarte D.C., graduate of the Palmer College of Chiropractic.  He is an internationally known speaker who teaches his effective system to physicians, chiropractors, physical therapists, massage therapists and many other health-care professionals.

WHAT IS MKS?
MKS is a manual soft tissue therapy.  It is designed to quickly and efficiently target pain and resulting compensations.  Sessions are 15 minutes or less.  MKS can...

     ~ alleviate pain
     ~ restore function/movement
     ~ improve and balance posture
     ~ reset body/muscular tone
     ~ clear compensations

HOW DOES IT WORK?
MKS influences the central nervous system (CNS; brain and spinal cord) and the peripheral nervous system (PNS; nerves outside the CNS) by stimulating muscles within the same dermatomes (commonly innervated regions of the body).  Muscles within the dermatomes are innervated by the same nerve root.  A nerve root is a junction between the CNS and PNS.  Each nerve root "talks to" the muscles telling them to contract or relax.  Opening the communication between the CNS and the PNS allows the body to begin correcting problems.

WHAT CAN IT HELP?
MKS helps alleviate many acute and chronic discomforts of the upper and lower body.*

~ headaches
     ~ jaw pain
     ~ neck/shoulder pain
     ~ arm/hand pain
     ~ low back pain
     ~ hip pain
     ~ leg/knee/foot pain
     ~ Migraines
     ~ TMJ Dysfunction
     ~ Rotator Cuff problems
     ~ Frozen Shoulder
     ~ Thoracic Outlet Syndrome
     ~ Tennis/Golfer's Elbow
     ~ Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
     ~ Disc Herniation
     ~ Sciatica
     ~ Plantar Fasciitis
     ~ Neuropathy
     ~ RSD
     ~ Fusions

*MKS is not a substitute for medical evaluation or attention; rather, it is a form of health care enhancement, and serves as a complement to pain management, chiropractic and physical therapy.  The MKS therapist does not diagose or prescribe medications.  Severe and undiagnosed conditions should be discussed with a physician before receiving MKS.
